ANTIQUE JAPANESE SIGNED CAST IRON TETSUBIN TEA POT MT. FUJI SHAPE AND DESIGN:

This is a special Japanese cast iron tea pot which dates to the mid Meiji Era (c. 1880) and has an overall zen simplicity with the over shape being that of mt. Fuji. It also has relief images on the side of mt. Fuji as well as a stylized dragon (see pictures 3 & 4). The bronze is made of bronze with the top finial in the shape of a rising lotus blossom (see picture 5). There is the signature of the Japanese artist cast on the side of the pot next to the spout (see pictures 7 & 8).

This tea pot has been well used yet well loved and, other than some minor oxidation it remains infine condition. It is water tight (see picture 11) and measures about 8\" diameter (17 cm) by 4 1/2\" tall (12 cm) not including handle or spout. It holds about one liter of liquid and does very well over flame.
