An absolutely gorgeous antique porcelainMeissen plate with a lovely rococo design. Meissen porcelain cabinet plate 7 inches in diameter with beautiful, handpainted flowers, insects and amazing gilding.
Clear set of famous blue Meissenmarks on the reverse.
Meissen porcelain was thefirst European hard-paste porcelain that was developed from 1708. Theproduction of porcelain at Meissen, near Dresden, started in 1710 and is stillin business today as Staatliche Porzellan Manufaktur Meissen GmbH.
The signature logo of thecompany, the cobalt crossed swords, was introduced in 1720 to protect itsproduction. Interestingly the crossed swords mark is one of the oldesttrademarks in existence and is fiercely protected by the company.
Technique& Material: Glazed white porcelain plate. This famous Meissen plate has beautiful hand painted flowers, elegant insects with a gold trim running along the edges.
Diameter: 7 inches (17.5 см)
Weight: 7.81 oz. (224 grams)
Markings: It is marked withcobalt Meissen crossed swords on the reverse. The dateof this item would be the 19th century. Authentically determined by catalogs,from the period of 1862-1904. All these marks are under the glaze.
Condition: The condition of the porcelain is excellent, without any visible chips orcracks, orrestoration.
