Offering a beautiful19th century English papier mache / black lacquer double slant lid sewing box with handle.
This gorgeous sewing box is decorated with beautiful hand painted gilt work and lots of inlaid abalone on the lids, ornate gilt designs on the handle, and elaborate gilt and hand painted decorations on all 4 sides.
The interior retains the original paper decoration and one of the lid interiors is fitted withmaterial having \'pockets\' for pins, needles, etc.
The papier mache is \'alligatored\' but is solid and tight... not loose at all!
