Great strand of old, rare beads---purchased from a very reliable small importer as amber but from research it is more likely copal and Mauritanian. The strand has 41 beads and is 23 1/2 “ without the clasp. The sizes range from about 10 x 19 mm (the 2 smallest at the end) to about 15 to 17 x 24 mm—all extremely well matched as you can see, with two darker beads—delicious butterscotch with a bit of rich chocolate thrown in! We purchased this strand in NYC in the early 1980’s and are certain that these are quite old but I do not know the date. The beads are in beautiful shape with one showing the striations, and re-strung exactly as found using a simple hook we had hand-made. Two of us had a jewelry design business and this one beauty is from our private collection. We hope it gets a fine new home! We will be offering a lot of our personal items over the next months, along with the one-of-a-kind pieces we created with old elements. (We hope you love them, I think they are wonderful, I said modestly!)
