For sale here is this early Ridgway\'s porcelain sucrier / lidded sugar bowl, which dates to around 1835. The sucrier is marked with the pattern number 2/2067 in red characters (no other marks).
This highly attractive sugar bowl is hand-painted with a beautiful and unusual pattern, of a pink ground beneath a deep border of black with pink roses, gilding and white jewelling. The shoulder of the sucrier is painted with pink roses and finished with moulded, gilt scrolls and flowers. The lid is similarly decorated and has a particularly charming flower finial.
The combination of the black, pink and gold is so unusual; it looks both striking and elegant.
The sucrier measures 5 1/4 inches high and is around 7 1/2 inches wide. As for condition, both handles have old, professional restoration (not obvious), otherwise it is fine.
