ANTIQUE SIGNED LATE 18C / EARLY 19C WEDGWOOD BLUE JASPERWARE COVERED JAR c1820:
$131.10

This beautiful little covered jar was made by Josiah Wedgwood about 1820. It is in a very original state with only minor faults. It is clearly marked on the base \'WEDGWOOD\' from the early years when the name was stamped on the factory\'s products using individual letter stamps (later superseded by the use of a single stamp with evenly spaced letters). The base also carries the incised \'moustache\' or \'commas\' mark used between 1795 and 1850.The jar has exquisitely modelled classical scenes in white porcelain all round the sides and on the lid, including Juno with her peacock. This jar measures 4\" or 10cms tall (including its lid) and is 2 1/4\" (6.5cms) across its base diameter. It weighs 217gms before packing. ConditionThe jar is some 200 years old and is in remarkably good condition for its age with minor chipping on the opening aperture edge and two minor flakes on the base. There is a small round pin sized hole in the top of the lid but this may be intentional. I have provided plenty of photos.PostagePostal charges are based on the weight of the jar fully packed. I always, as a matter of policy, use a ‘signed for’ and ‘tracked’ postal option and insure for the full value. I pack most carefully in tough new packaging for which I make no charge. Please note that I have successfully sent fragile items all over the world for many years and I am proud of my record for excellent packing. I have also learned that with very small and/or fragile items, it is safer and more prudent to pack in a comparatively large box. I aim to keep the postage as low as possible, commensurate with the demands of safety and security and I always return any postage inadvertently overcharged, as will be clear from my response. I am happy to accept Paypal and will accept personal cheques, but because of the expense, complexities and delays in the UK in the processing of foreign currency cheques I have reluctantly had to stipulate ‘Sterling only’ for these. Very sorry! Please feel free to ask any questions.
