This antique demitasse chocolate or espresso cup & saucer set, in the Fragonard shape, is in excellent condition, with no problems. It has a transfer picture of the second Salem, Oregon State House, highlighted in magenta, with gold trim on the edges and handle. The building was completed in 1876, and was destroyed by fire in 1935. It was built of stone, and 5 million bricks, had a 180 ft. high dome, and cost $325K, ($7.5M today). It was designed by Justus Krumbein and W.G.Gilbert. I put the age of the cup at about 1900, but it could be older. The cup is 2-1/2\" tall to the rim, 3-1/2\" with the handle, and 2-3/8\" across the rim. The deep well saucer is 4\" in diameter. Neither piece is marked.
