Stunning,very unusual and extremely rare, \"The Mountain Man\" terracotta figurine by the one and only Ernst Wahliss. The detail on this figurine is just exquisite and sensational,truly breath taking. It has taken me decades to find one to be able to sell,difficult to show on screen but the detail is such that I have never seen anything quite like it and I have sold some extremely expensive Royal Dux,Royal Worcester and Ernst Wahliss figurines.Every single detail imaginable is there and visible,e.g. muscles, veins,finger nails, creases, knuckles, whiskers, wrinkles and ribs.His eye brows eyes and eye lashes are so realistic,and the phenomenal detail is continued in the bird he is carrying in his right hand,also major detail to the wolf skin he is wearing.If you are not very familiar with terracotta figurines I strongly recommend that you do a google search on Ernst Wahliss terracottafigurines.I think you will get a shock to read the true value of these items.The google list will show you the Ernst Wahliss and Goldscheider versions, of these truly nothing short of magnificent terracotta figurines.It will also show you that I am selling this item at not only a very reasonable price,but at way way below average price.I believe this master piece was created by Ernst Wahliss long before 1880,possibly 1863.But I will say in words what is incised under the base:MADE IN AUSTRIA ERNST WAHLISS TURN WIEN No 138 incised,and shown to you as clearly as possible in the photo reference.\"please pardon the CokeCan but it sometimes helps,apart from the stated measurements,to get the height and size of the item in perspective\"
