Here is an opportunity to acquire a superb Theresienthal hock glass, perhaps to begin or complete a collection of such glasses. This is a hand enamelled and gilded glass from about 1902, individually made to the highest specification by the Theresienthal factory near Zwiesel in Germany. It is very light in weight (51gms) and very delicate. It is 21cms (8¼”) tall and the foot diameter measures 7cms (2¾”). it is light in weight at 168gms.I am much indebted to Stephan Buse whose superb, erudite and growing website, www.roemer-aus-theresienthal.de includes a photograph and description of this fine glass. Those who have a copy of Herr Buse’s excellent reprints of the Theresienthal catalogues/price lists for 1890, 1903 and 1907 ‘Roemer aus Theresienthal’ (2007) will find this shape on page 109. The glass is also pictured by Karl-Wilhelm Warthorst on page 53 of his excellent book “Die Glasfabrik Thereienthal”. The ‘dekor’ on this glass would appear to be a variant on Dekor 1723. This exquisite glass stands on an elegant green tinted stem with an exquisitely patterned bowl enamelled in purple, green and gold. The gold rim shows no wear and there are chips, cracks or restoration.Condition

Although it is over 100 years old, this glass is in perfect condition.

Collectors of Theresienthal and/or Art Nouveau glass will know what these are and their rarity. These glasses fetch high prices in specialist sales everywhere so I have provided plenty of photographs which will allow the glass to speak for itself. PostagePostal charges are based on the weight of the glass, fully packed. I always, as a matter of policy, use a ‘signed for’ and ‘tracked’ postal option and insure for the full value. I pack most carefully in good strong packaging for which I make no charge. Please note that I have successfully and safely sent fragile items all over the world for many years and I am proud of my record for excellent packing. I have also learned that with very small and/or fragile items, it is safer and more prudent to pack in a comparatively large box. I aim to keep the postage as low as possible, commensurate with the demands of safety and security and I always return any postage inadvertently overcharged, as will be clear from my response. I am happy to accept Paypal and will accept personal cheques, but because of the expense, complexities and delays in the UK in the processing of foreign currency cheques I have reluctantly had to stipulate ‘Sterling only’ for these. Very sorry! Please feel free to ask any questions.
