Hello and welcome!

For sale today we have an antique Victorian pocket watch!

This watch dates to 1879 and was made by J W Benson (who had warrants from Queen Victoria and the Prince of Wales).

It is an open faced watch cased in Sterling silver with a grip band around the middle and patternation on the rear, including a blank initials shield.

Lift the front and an almost perfect (bar a couple of light hairline cracks) porcelain dial residues with a recessed sub-seconds dial which may have started life out a little higher!

Another neat thing about the dial are the hands which all (but one) have a decorative flourish, including a fleur de lis minute end.

At the moment this watch is not running and the balance wheel is unbalanced and lifeless.

Elsewhere, the glass crystal has a chip to the top left, the case button is a brass replacement, the grip band is worn and the case has marks and patina however it is unpolished and should rub up to a better result.
