Angel & Cherub Victorian scraps
I am listing a beautiful assortment of angels and cherubs from the estate of Linn Howard.
Howard is the daughter of Loretta Hines Howard, the artist that conceived the idea of a combined Roman Catholic Nativity Scene with a Protestant Christmas Tree.
The artist, collector passed in 1982 and her daughter Linn continued the tradition of the annual installation.
Howard collected over 200 creche\' figures starting in in 1925.
Then in 1957, she donated them to the Met with an idea for the first Baroque tree and the tradition continues.
Each year New Yorkers and Touristsflock to see the magnificently lit, 20-foot blue spruce over a vivid 18th century Neapolitan Nativity scene.
The tree is enshrined in an abundant array of lifelike figures with silk-robed angels and cherubs hovering above.
Three generations of women have seen to the annual installation.
A must see!
