Antique Victorian Duck & Arrow Brooch……….

Fabulous, fun & witty little brooch featuring a Duck and anarrow.

This is possibly a hunting brooch or could just have been a noveltybrooch. The Victorians loved novelty brooches & Symbolism, it wasparticularly prevalent in Jewellery and an Arrow symbolises “readiness” and aDuck “resourcefulness”.

A really unique piece it is very well made, a good weight and in 18ctyellow gold. The duck is solid not hollow and the detail in the feathers and the texture of thebody is very fine as is the eight separate feathers on the arrow.

A good size, it is 6.5cm (just over 2 ½”) long by 1.5cm (5/8th’s).

Weight: 4.6g

There is a stamp on this brooch - it is half of the numbers and letter for 18ct but to be sure, I have tested the metal and it is 18ct.
