An Irish solid silver Oar pattern style spoon, dating from 1857, made by the well regarded John Smyth, and assayed in Dublin.
It has a single drop heel and a rat tail to the reverse of the bowl, and a crest of a bright shining sun to the terminal. Size wise it is somewhere between a large tea spoon and small dessert spoon size.
It measures just over 6\"/15cm with a weight of 22g/0.7 troy oz.
It is in fairly good condition for the age, with crisp clear hallmarks, but it shows a few tiny dints to the bowl which also has minor wear to the tip and leading side, as well as a fair few surface scratches which make it appear a little dull.It would benefit from a good clean and polish if buying to keep as it\'s a bitgrubby.
