This is believed to be anEdwardian period elegant mesh wrist purse with faux sapphire cabochon on the clasp. The purse is not marked but resembles the Whiting and Davis purses of that time period. It also resembles those made in Germany, but this can not be confirmed.Gold colored metal, not sure of actual metal- probably a gold plate. This purse has a fine textured mesh that flows beautifully. It has a tassel of chains below. The purse frame is nicely detailed . The purse is attached to a flat woven fabric wrist strap with metal slider. My Great Aunt handed this down to me about 50 years ago. It also resembles the flapper purses of the 1920s and 1930s with an art deco style/Victoriandesign.

This purse measures approximately 12\" total length from top of strap to bottom of tassel. The strap portion is 5.75\" long by .25\" wide. The purse itself is 6.25\" long by 2.5\" wide.

Condition: Good, some of the enamel has worn off, and metal is oxidized- consistent with age. The bottom has areas where the rings have come loose (see last picture). Although it looks like an easy fix, I have not attempted to fix this, as it is an antique. Age and country of origin need to be verified by an expert.
