ANTIQUE Victorian Super Sheer Fine STRIPED Silk GAUZE PANEL/36Lx20W/FrenchDOLLS Lovely ethereal panel of antique of off white silk gauze with narrow woven stripes salvaged from an Victorian dress. Fabric soft and ultra sheer. Beautiful age patina.Bakes a stunningoverlay as shown in 9th photo.
Flaws include: numerous scattered splits the longest about 5”the rest shorter near top, a few more lower down, plus a handful of small holes. Fabric is delicate, but not brittle,will tear with a tug in the vertical direction. Could still be used for decorative projects such as doll clothes. Lovely despite the flaws, and truly rare to find.
Length of panel is about 36”, width about 20” btween selvedges.
