For sale is a very Rare and perhaps the only one known to exist A. Griesedieck Brewery, Pearl Lager Beer, St Saint Louis, MO Missouri match safe or match holder. I have seen a lot of local ones, but never this one. Anton Griesedieck was early, and the backside has Premiums Awarded 1879, 1881, 1882, 1885 and 1886. So my guess is this is well over 125 years old and from the 1880s era. Competitor to Anheuser Busch and Budweiser, Faust, Muencher, Busch, Hyde Park, Klausmann, Phoenix Brewery, Wm. J. Lemp Brewery, Louis Obert, Green Tree Brewery, etc in the STL marketplace. A great pre-pro item, in nice condition. This is about 2.5 inches tall, the standard match safe size. The lid is well attached still and the item is in nice condition with some tarnish and gold color lost. The item is not perfect, but darn nice. And if you have another one, let me know.
