________HOW WE GRADE SHEET MUSIC CONDITION:
As New/Extremely Fine: No flaws, crisp spine, unfaded.
Fine: Cover looks new, spine intact, with perhaps a corner bump, very light agetoning, perhaps a few minor flaws inside.
Near Fine: A few flaws but No Store Stamp or Name written on cover, light agetoning, spine intact or nearly so.
Very Good: Obviously used but still nice looking, complete and collectible. May have mended spine, minor flaws including Store Stamp & Name, a few small closed tears & creases, a small spot or stain, agetoned to offwhite or very light tan.
Good: Obviously much used with many flaws, but complete, spine probably completely broken.
Fair: Tattered in appearance with many obvious flaws, significant open tears perhaps intruding into some of the cover artwork, music score or lyric.
Poor: Very tattered, perhaps incomplete, still has some value if quite scarce.Sheet music in Fine & Near Fine condition is scarce.
Sheet music was purchased to be used, often over and over again. The spine was immediately broken after purchase to make it lay flat on a music stand.
Sheet music was frequently taken to parties and family gatherings. Rarely was it carried neatly in an attache case! Usually, the owner inked his/her name on the cover so that the piece could be sorted out from those brought by other guests when it was time to leave the party.
Stains from liquid spills are not uncommon. They were at parties!
