PROVENANCE: In 1981, Norman Karp bought several safes from a family friend who had leased them to Woodstock Ventures and had never opened them. Karp paid $14,000 for the safes. Inside, he found 150,000 unused tickets, Jimi Hendrix\'s signed contract and assorted Woodstock T-shirts, hats and jackets. He placed ads in national newspapers and magazines and sold 30,000 tickets. This ticketis fromthe Norman Karp Collection.
