Acer palmatum \'Tara\'s Beauty\' is a brand new introduction that I have evaluated and propagated for a couple of years since finding this sport growing at my families wholesale seedling nursery J.G. Akerboom Nurseries, Inc. After several years of evaluation, I decided to name this special plant \'Tara\'s Beauty\', in honor of my wonderful wife Tara Sherman. The parent seedling was growing in a bed of seedlings that were all seedlings from \'Kinran\'. \'Tara\'s Beauty\' was a side branch sport on one of the red leafed seedlings. The variegation varies on this plant significantly depending on where it is growing and how much sun exposure it gets. In full sun, the leaves are purple/red with marbling and splashes of pinkish orange. In semi shade, a wide range of colors can bee seen from cream, orange, pink, to some green and purple. The tree for sale has been growing in a semi shaded greenhouse. One note of caution, based on our limited time growing this cultivar, occasional reversion branches may occur. The reversions will be solid red leaves without variegation. Efforts need to be made each spring to remove any non-variegated branches, to ensure the variegation holds true for the plant. This plant was registered as a new cultivar last fall with the International Maple Society.

The tree for saleis a two 1/2 year old grafted tree and it is growing in a 1-gallon container. The approximate height of this tree is 27\" (inches) and the width is 15” (inches). This tree will be shipped in its 1 gallon container. We have a very limited number of \'Tara\'s Beauty\'s\' in this size to offer for sale this spring.
