ACOMA Pueblo Pottery Carved HORSEHAIR Pot GARY YELLOW CORN LOUIS 2001
Nice horsehair pot from the Acoma Pueblo of New Mexico, carved and signed by the artist.
This pot measures 5.625\" tall, is about 5.75\" at the widest point, and the rim is 3.5\" wide.
There are no chips or cracks, but there are some rub marks as shown in my photos.
Signed on the bottom as shown.Gary Louis and Corrine (wife) are both from the Pueblo of Acoma, also called the Sky City . Corrine and Gary first came across the idea of using horse hair on their pottery, after Corrine pulled out a recently fired batch of pottery, when one of her own strands of hair fell on the pottery and scorched the pot.It was from this accident that the idea of using such a method to decorate pottery was invented, therefore, Gary and Corrine are credited with this style of pottery.Domestic Winners: Flat rateshipping on this item.
