Beautiful antique serving plate in white porcelain withsilver overlay. The ornate edge with thescalloped rim and lacy decorative element of the silver contrast elegantly withthe clean white of the porcelain. Thesilver was a pierced sheet that was formed to the plate and adhered to thesurface of the plate. The lattice andbar elements of the silver-work are not attached to the porcelain so they aresomewhat delicate. One of the bars inthe unattached portion of the silver design has broken, though without loss andanother has been slightly bent so it no longer lays perfectly flat against thesurface.

The plate measures 12 ¾” across at the widest point and 1 ½”tall at the rim. The plate has nicedepth that make it useable as a shallow serving bowl. There is no damage of any kind to theporcelain. The only issues were thosemention above with regards to the silver.The silver is unmarked, so I don’t know the content. The section with a break in it looks solid,so it does not appear to be plated, though it may be lower purity than sterling. The plate is marked on the back with Deutschand a tea pot shape. This is the mark ofthe German company that did the overlay, Friedrich Deutsch.
