You areviewing anOriginal, Hand Blown Glass ArtPiece created and made by Gavin Heath. This hand blown glass statue is called the \"Fruit Head.\" It is made after tribal African art that was inspired by his growing up years when living in South Africa. He states, \"My work stems from traditional glass techniques in the height of car culture. Living in the Americas and born and raised in South Africa, I see \"Progression\" and \"primitive\" in one life. This in turn makes me search for simplicity an the spirit of humanity, whichis complicated in this reality. Whether my work is conscious, subconscious or both does not matter. Creativity shows spirit, which is of noparticular religion or ideal.\" His work is shown at Gingerbread Square Gallery in Key West, Florida. Gavin\'s work is immediately recognized andnever mistaken for other artists. His art is tribal, primitive andculturally expressive art and embraces a pop modern feel. Histechnique: He uses emulsified glass which is pulverized glass mixed with oils. This is treated like paint in a liquified state and applied with a brush to a initial surface or glass bubble. Designs are created between layers of glass \"bubble\" that must first cool to permit apaintingsurface. Following the completion of the painted designs, thesepieces are returned to the blowpipe and the glassfurnace at 2150degrees foryet another gathering of glass. The process may occur many times until the desired effect and depth are created. The paintedpiece will then return to the furnace for a gathering of clear glass that encases the painted surface. The already detailedAfricanpaintings are enhanced even more optically when they are successfully encased. The result is described as an intensification of primary color that \"pops out\" and intrigues the eye. This well known working artist is still producing fine collectorspieces that can be seen on line. The Fruit Man stands about 42 inches tall and is about 12 inches wide. It has been carefully wrapped and boxed twice and comes covered with insurance. His newerpieces range from $5000-6000. This is a vintagepieceand one of a kind. It\'s in perfect condition. Pleaseview all the photos and email me for questions. You know I love hearing from you!
