Here is a German tin antique airplane hangar penny toy.

We referred to a leading authority on penny toys for help identifying the toy and he did say that the hangar does resemble Distler quality. He was not able to confirm 100% that it was made by Distler but it could possibly be a Distler toy. The usual Distler made hangar penny toys have 3 monoplanes lithographed on the side and the roof has two roof spans but this does not rule out that this hangar could possibly be a Distler. He also said that sometimes it is difficult to determine the maker of penny toys when they are unmarked.

  • This German antique tin penny toy measures ~ 5”L x 4”W and 2”H.

  • The airplane hangar penny toy is blue and white with a red roof.

  • The roof has slight loss of paint from play wear and age.

  • The inside of the hangar penny toy has a brown color. When I touched it there was a brown powder on my finger. It did not feel like rust (very smooth to touch). Possibly this is paint?
