Rare activity doll by noted Yupik doll maker, Martina Oscar (1929-2008).
Eskimo doll with adze making slats for fish trap. Constructed of wood, corduroy, cloth, fur ruff, leather face and boots. Signed on base \"Martina Oscar\".
Base measures 4.25\" x 4.50\"; doll is 4.75\" tall to top of wood post. The Eskimo measures 4\" tall seat to ruff and 4.25\" seat to soles. There is discoloration on back of parka which was there when I acquired the doll almost 40 years ago but has not changed in that time. Doll is dusty but is intact and has no fur loss or odor.
Martina Oscar is one of the featured doll makers in the book \"Eskimo Dolls\" published by the Alaska State Council on the Arts in 1982.
