!!! NEW UPDATED VERSION 2B \"575\" BOARD !!!

This board has now been slightly overhauled to make it easier to use!

Improvements from the Version 2A:

  • All components (except display) on one side of the board - easier mounting
  • Improved audio filter (slightly louder)
  • Improved audio power system - cleaner audio
  • Bigger (0.1\") IO connector pins for easier soldering (will now take a 0.1\" header connector too)

Improvements from the Version 1: More powerful amplifier, class D instead of class AB. Improved display brightness. Better battery voltage range. Slightly offset display to fit more shrouds. PWM audio. More IO connections.

At last the waiting is over. Here we have the pulse rifle module to end all pulse rifle modules! A fully integrated sound and counter device with the facilities to drive anything you can conceive.

Ideal for that Nerf conversion you\'ve always wanted to do, this module is based around a PIC32MX575F512H microcontroller running at 80MHz with 64KB RAM and 512KB of FLASH memory for storage of programming and samples. 12-bit PWM and a 2.6W class D power amplifier allow you to directly drive most small embedded speakers. If you want more power there is a handy Line Out connection for linking to your own power amplifier of choice.

Plus, it only measures 50mm x 32mm!

Two LED output channels can drive two LEDs, or whole banks of LEDs, at up to 2.4A pulse current per channel - that\'s a lot of LEDs! Fully PWM driven, these channels could be programmed to create a variety of effects to enhance your weapon. A bright dual digit 14.4mm red LED display gives your ammunition count, and looks just like the ones in the film (well, they all look the same really these displays, so it\'s hard not to).

6 IO ports on the board for linking to buttons and switches make it really simple to wire the board up. However, I\'ll let you into a little secret... These IO ports are also analogue inputs, so you could have all sorts of sensors and things connected to them, not just buttons.

There\'s even a handy universal expansion port on the board too for interfacing your own electronics and gadgets to, featuring industry standard protocols, such as RS-232 UART, SPI, I²C plus PWM and digital and analogue IO.

The board can be powered from anything between 6.4V and 15V, and has a handy USB port for uploading new programs from your computer.

For those of you who are conversant with the world of the Arduino, this board is just like a miniature Arduino with added bells, whistles, and explosions. We even have a specially developed version of the Arduino IDE for programming the board, so you will feel right at home with it.

The module comes pre-programmed with a default program that should get you up and running without any programming at all. This \"average\" firmware was developed in association with members of The Replica Prop Forum as a firmware that should work for the majority of users without modification. So, if you\'re scared of programming (or just don\'t have the time for it) this board should still fit the bill perfectly. The default firmware has the following setup:

  • Separate triggers for pulse rifle and grenade launcher
  • Optional 3-position switch for firing mode selection
  • Automatic display switching between pulse rifle and grenade launcher
  • Grenade launcher priming using pump action
  • Separate LED connections for pulse rifle and grenade launcher muzzle flash
  • Grenade launcher firing sound plus randomly delayed explosion sound
  • Single shot pulse rifle sound developed especially for this module
  • 99 to 95 countdown on magazine insertion
  • All the inputs are active-low (connect to ground to trigger them), and the LED connections are all open-drain. The connections to the various switches and buttons are as follows:

    • IO0: Pulse rifle trigger button
    • IO1: Magazine presence detect button
    • IO2: Grenade launcher trigger button
    • IO3: Grenade launcher pump action button

    The two LEDs are:

    • LED0: Pulse rifle muzzle flash
    • LED1: Grenade launcher muzzle flash

The sounds included in the firmware are from a number of sources, some free, some donated by dedicated individuals, and some even developed and synthesized especially for this module.

Things you need to know / provide:

    • Battery pack: between 6.4V and 15V - 7.2V Li-Ion / NiMh recommended.
    • Speaker: ~2.6W, 8Ω. This is a differential output and should be connected direct to a speaker. For powered speakers or external amplifiers use the LINE connection instead, or you risk killing the amplifier chip.
    • Muzzle flash LEDs: Up to 2.4A per channel, you need to supply load resistors. Calculate from your battery pack supply voltage.
    • Switches / buttons: Two triggers, grenade launcher pump action, magazine detect.
    • Wires: Button connections are 0.8mm diameter maximum, speaker and LED connections are 0.95mm, and power connections are 1.2mm.

Programming software is available from http://www.uecide.org (Note: This is the \"575\" version of the board)

Wiring diagrams, sample code, etc is available on the UECIDE forums: a board installed in a Nerf conversion:

And here\'s one in another build:

    • Speaker, buttons and LEDs not included.
    • Same day dispatch if ordered before 2pm.
