Alvin Sterling 1000 Fine Overlay Cut GlassDecanter; Up for sale is the impressiveantique cut glass decanter with sterling silver overlay in floral motifs, dated1904. The decanter is with a radiation cut at the bottom accompanied by theinscribed marks “49”and “5”, and has a calligraphy monogram “MY” in front. Thelower back underneath the handle shows “Patented 144”, “1000, Fine” and the Alvinhallmark. The sterling overlay stopper has a ball like handle and an inscribedmark “49”.Measures: about 5” high (without the stopper); 6 ¼” high (with thestopper); 3 ½” (across at widest point); 1 ½” base diameter. Condition: in good antique condition,except that the stopper has a tiny chip to its end and the decanter has some chipsand minor glass missing inside the mouth without influencing the function andthe overall beauty.
