Amazing 19thC Limoges Enamel Scenic Snuff / Pill Box Scene French France Dose:

For sale is a pill or patch box made in the Limoges area of France around the late 19th century. It is made of enamel on copper (most likely) which was gilded along the hinges and inner lining. The box is hand painted with a superb polychrome decoration of a couple on the top in a landscape surrounding which goes all around the box as well as underneath. The piece is not marked but the style is typical for this area and period. The box is in great condition with some wear to the gilding of the mounts and the high points of the underside though it is minor. One area with two minor cracks on the backside bottom under the hinge as shown. Does not take away from the piece! The box is just over 1 inch tall with a diameter of 2.25 inches.
