Up for sale is a beautiful original oil painting from the listed German artist H Meurer. This is a painting of the Swiss Alps which was one of his favorite scenes to paint. This piece has some very nice age and I\'m guessing this is from the 40\'s. The back of the canvas is yellowing nicely and the paint as you can see in the trees is starting to crack a little. It is in the original frame which I think is hideous but I\'m leaving it on because when shipping this piece it will offer more protection and one you receive this you can reframe it no problem. It measures approximately 36.5 X 21 inches.
The only damage is the aging paint on the trees where you can see it slightly crackling and the slight tear in the canvas in the clouds (middle top/right) of the canvas. It is not a bad tear. It can easily be patched and never noticed. This painting is beautiful and would make a great addition to anyones collection. Their is pencil on the back of the canvas \"12342\" and their is a small paragraph about the artist attached to the stretcher on the back.
It reads \" Meurer H., Painter. He studied at the academy of arts in Berlin and later on in Munich under Professor Burghardt. His travels were leading him among others to Austria and Switzerland. He especially loves to paint the lovely sub-alpine mountains with their beautiful forest-slopes and the extensive view. Since 1945 Mr. Meurer works as a free artists.\"
