Condition report:
The painting is on its canvas of origin, properly stretch. The painting is in fine condition, slightly dirty. Stretcher mark trace is visible and the varnish is a bit too shiny.
Melchior Henri Ferdinand de Blochausen (born in 1779 at Liège). The Captain is portrayed in the French unit for Nord region in France in 1814. Nominated Knight of the Legion of Honour during the Hundred Days, he signed the certificate only two years later. He was then Major in the King of the Low Countries service.
