Amazing Stories Pulp Mag Published Art Birmingham 1963 Reign of the Telepuppets:
$575.00

This is an original published artwork by Lloyd Birmingham and was featured in the August 1963 pulp magazine Amazing Stories. It was for the story titled \"Reign of the Telepuppets\" by Daniel F. Galouye. It measures 17 3/4 X 14 1/4. It is in excellent condition. (See Photos)Birmingham studied at the Parsons School of Design 1946/47 and was a freelance illustrator from the early 1960\'s to the 1980\'s. A quote from the book \"Transformations: The Story of the Science Fiction Magazine from 1950 to 1970\'s by Michael Ashley states, \"Both Amazing and Fantastic acquired cover art from a wider range of artists. E. Valiqursky had dominated the cover during the mid to late Fifties and readers had become critical of his rather flat illustrations. Now the magazine began to run impressive covers by Alex Schomburg, Leo Ramon Summers, Ed Emshwiller, Lloyd Birmingham and others, and there was little doubt that during this otherwise \"Wilderness\" period in the science fiction magazines, Amazing and Fantastic were the best looking and brightest magazines around.\"This lot was originally purchased From the Birmingham estate.
