American Late Federal Mahogany Tilt Top Tripod Wine Table c. 1830:

This very nice medium sized oval topped tilt top tripod wine table was made in the American Northeast c. 1830. It still has a very Federal feel to it and is a great medium red mahogany color. It has an old refinish and looks quite mellow at this point. It has had some repairs including a serpentine crack in the top that was repaired with dovetails on the underside of the top. The crack was still loose when I got it so we took it apart, cleaned out the joint and reglued everything, filled the crack and colored to match.The crackstill visible and one small section is slightly sunken but everything is solid and the crack is not too noticeable given its undulating shape that conforms to the grain. I notice that a break has been repaired on foot in a craftsman like manner. Its a wonderful little table with a graceful oval top that locks tightly in place. It stands straight and is ready for the next hundred year of use. It is 27\" tall x 21.75\" long x 15.5\" wide.
