American Patriotic quilt!

c 1900-20s

This is a one of a kind quilt. An expression of liberty all in this folk art design. Quilts like this were made during War times (or other) and the theme for the book, \"All Flags Flying, American Patriotic Quilts As Expressions of Liberty, by R Bishop & C Houck\". I did search far and wide through our quilt library and this book really has the theme to this one. I thought possibly it might be in the book, but not, just this theme. I included some of the pictures of Patriotic themes in the book for you to see as a reference. Book not included.

This example has a center cheddar/orange eagle with American Flag, poles and 48 star American Flag. The words, \"blood & fire\", The salvation Army. I do think it was possibly made during a war time.

We have never found this pattern ever and I do think a one of kind quilt!

Measures 75 x 66 inches

Hand quilted 8 stitches per inch.

Hand bound. Thin batting. Hand pieced. Treadle machine applique. Some piecing.

The quilt wasn\'t ever washed. Also, has a piece of paper with some information on it. But I can\'t read it.

The quilt does have considerable age spotting, water, tanning, browning, areas of worn fabrics. See photos.

An interesting piece of Americana to add to your collection. Possibly someone might want to recreate this piece.

Certainly one that should be published or for study.

Originated in Western Pennsylvania.
