Up for sale is a nice original Ames 1840 NCO sword. This sword is in overall good condition. The markings on the blade are fairly legible. One side is marked “made by AMES MF.C CHICOPEE”. The other side is marked “US LHK 1864”. The 4 stamp is very lightly struck. Without light all that is visible is the 186. The blade exhibits light to moderate pitting from one end to the other as well as a few small nicks in the edge of the blade. The blade does not appear to have been sharpened. The brass handle is in good shape with the only marking I can find being a “J.F” stamped on one side. The scabbard is likewise is good overall condition. There are some dings in the brass and there also some scrapes and wrinkles in the leather. This would probably be a great starter sword for someone. While there are certainly nicer examples this is a good honest example and someone will be pleased to own it.

This item will be shipped usps retail ground. It is long and will be well packed so shipping may seem a little high. It will also be insured for the sale price.
