This elegant High Art Deco-styled black and red lacquered chess table with gilt trim is probablyabout 40 years old (possibly less, but the party from whom I purchased it said that it had been custom-made, probably in the 1980s), but it was built in the old-fashioned (GildedAge, first-class quality of materials and craftsmanship) manner; it has goodweight and the parts are flawlessly joined.The finish is exquisite -- world class. There\'s a drawer on either endmeasuring about 10 inches wide. Near-mint condition!
Measurements:about 32 inches square and 30 1/4 high; the chess board (playing area) measures18 1/2 inches square.
