An Important & Large Antique Verdure Tapestry with Soldiers, Castle and Trees:

This is an important antique verdure tapestry.

Three large vertical pieces have been sewn together to obtain this tapestry.

On the first panel from the left, there is a large tree with an entrance to a castle.

In the center panel there is an abundance of trees in the foreground and the background. A small bird is perched on top.

On the right panel there are soldiers holding spears and a prince wearing a crown. We can also distinguish columns and tents in the background.

The overall size is 10\' 9 X 8 ft.

There is wear, splits, small tears and repairs.

The tapestries were widely used to decorate theinteriors of Lords, separate spaces and conserve heat. People did not hesitate to move, cut, pucker and carried them in their luggage, which is why few of them have survived in good condition.
