An Impressive George II Silver Coffee Pot of taperedbaluster form, with a cast and applied spout, surmounted by a raised, domed lidwith a cast pinecone finial. Original scroll fruitwoodhandle. All standing on a raised circular foot. The pot is beautifullydecorated throughout with a high-relief - chased & embossed, foliate, scroll and shell pattern, typical of the period. Vacant cartouches to eithersides.

Hallmarked to the body for London 1751 byWilliam Shaw & William Priest, with the lion passant to the lid.

This coffee pot is in exceptional condition, with no repairs or erasures, and excellent definition to the raised decoration. The hallmarks are struck on top of the embossing, thus indicating that thedecoration is contemporary to the piece. Overall the piece has a superb patina, very thick gauge and an overall luster only achieved through 250 years of care.

Antique coffee pots of this age and size arefew and far between, and coming out of the workshop of two of the finestsilversmiths of the latter half of the eighteenth century, this pot would finda special place in any silver collection.
