An Unusual 14Ct 4-Leaf Clover Gold and Pearl Brooch Celebtrating 1900:

This is a very unusual brooch the like of which I have never yet come across, and it may have been a one-off commissioned piece.It is a bi-coloured gold brooch in the form of a \'Lucky\' 4-leaf clover, and inset into each leaf is a number that reads \'1900\'. Each number and the stem are set with small seed pearls. I assume that the sentiment was to wish a loved one \'good luck\' for the New Year and also the New Century.Not unusual for pieces of gold jewellery for this period, it does not possess a set of hallmarks, but it has been tested and tests for being \'at least\' 14ct gold. What is unusual is that it does have a Registration number on a bar that seems to have been added later. If this is a UK Registration Number then it does date it to approximately 1900.The brooch at some point was repaired (see photos) and had its \'C-clasp\' replaced with a \'safety catch\', and from the style I would say that this was probably done around the 1920s. It measures approximately 30mm wide and weights a total of approximately 5.6g.If you have any questions then please feel free to ask.
