This sale is for the old anchor/grappling hook pictured. I recently purchased this item at an estate administrator sale a few miles from the Mississippi River at Cape Girardeau, MO. No one knew any history behind it but due to its size, I would be more inclined to call it an anchor than a grappling hook so it could possibly have been used on the Mississippi since it is too large (approx. 40\" tall) for local creeks. It appears to be hand made by blacksmith. It is rusty but solid and the prongs are made from different thickness iron and so my guess that it is locally made. One of the most interesting and historic pieces I have purchased at local sale. I will either ship or deliver to a site in Cape Girardeau. Winning buyer will pay actual USPS Retail Ground (20#) shipping cost plus a $3. packaging and handling fee.
