Small Bronze Double-Headed Dragon Bracelet

c. 800--1100 AD

Approximately1,000 Years Old!

Thisamazing bronze Viking Dragon Bracelet dates to about 800—1100 AD andwas unearthed in modern day Latvia. Ithas a superb, double-headed Dragon head.

This small bronze bracelet appears to have been made for a small wrist of a child or small adult.

I guarantee it is 100% authentic and original with norepairs or restorations! WOW!

DETAILS:

Thisauthentic, 1,000 year-old Viking bracelet is oval is shape and measures approximately 2.6”or 66 mm long wide x 2.2\" or 56 mm tall wide and .166” or 4.3 mm thick.

It is slightly bent in antiquity, but would have only fit a wrist that is about 2\" in width. Thus, I believe it was not made for an adult male, but for a child or a small ladies\' wrist.

Itweighs about .4 oz. or 12 grams and is made of a copper-alloy bronze, which is heavily oxidized and has a wonderful authentic patina.

The British Museum has somewonderful examples of such Viking treasures.

CONDITION:

Itwas almost certainly a Double-Dragon bracelet, as that was the most commonstyle over 1,000 years ago. It has a wonderful, original patina that isperfect. It was cast in a mold and is made of bronze.

Highquality bronze bracelets such as this one would likely have been worn on thewrist by a man or woman of considerable wealth and would show others of his orher authority and status.

Viking9th—11th Century tradition called for personal items suchas swords, armor, and personal items to be broken before burial (ie. \"killed\") with theirowner so as to release any Evil Spirits from the items before they traveledwith their deceased owner to the next world.Of course, it could have been bent by accident, but such thick bronzebracelets are not easily bent. Viking funeral rituals called for warriors to be buried with their weapons and jewelry for a warrior\'s life in the next world.

BRONZE Facts

Museums and modern archeological studies usually use the general term “copper alloy” instead of just the term “bronze” to describe these ancient treasures, as many other elements (such as tin, lead, zinc, iron, and even arsenic) were added to the copper to form different strengths of types of bronze items. Ancient bronze artifacts such as this bracelet are probably about 75% copper and 25% tin, while modern bronze is closer to 88% copper and 12% tin.

Thishistoric bracelet has a beautiful, old patina with some signs of oxidation of the two main elements (tin and copper) that make up this exquisite bracelet. One interesting property of bronze is that once it has oxidized superficially, a copper oxide layer is formed on the surface and essentially protects the object from further damaging corrosion. This protective layer turns in another compound, called copper carbonate for you scientists, that protects most bronze pieces from even corrosive saltwater.

I have carefully examined this bracelet under 10x magnification and it also shows authentic and original signs of weathering and ground contact that help to further authenticate it as an ancient piece. I Guarantee this item to be 100% authentic or your money back! You will not be disappointed!

Please examine the photos taken at 4x macro carefully as they are part of the description.
