Found at an estate sale, this intriguing and attractively framed 6\" x 9\" lithograph print shows two ancient Hopi pots excavated from the ruins of Sikyatki Pueblo in northern Arizona. This vintage high-quality art print is framed under glass in a 13.75\" x 16.75\" x 1\" wood frame that has some inconspicuous damage in the form of nicks and scratches. The backing paper has some tears as well.A stamp on the backing paper indicates that this print was purchased originally from Framed Pictures Enterprises, 415 S. Front Street, Memphis, Tennessee, I would guess between 30 and 40 years ago. The print is unfaded and the colors of these polychrome pots are rich and intense.This print is an adaptation of Plate CXXIV, \"Decorated pottery from Sikyatki,\" from \"Archeological Expedition to Arizona in 1895\" by Jesse Walter Fewkes. It was published in the Seventeenth Annual Report of the Bureau of American Ethnology to the Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. These two pots are artifacts 155674 and 155683 in the collection of the Smithsonian Institution.The Sikyatki Pueblo was inhabited from roughly 1300 to 1600, so these pots are at least 400 years old. On the basis of his excavations Fewkes writes, \"The pottery from Sikyatki is especially rich in picture writing, and imperfect as these designs are as a means of transmitting a knowledge of manners, customs, and religious conceptions, they can be interpreted with good results.\"If you\'re dissatisfied with this framed print in any way, you can return it in the same condition in which you received it within 14 days for a full refund.
