Anglo Zulu War 1879, First Boer War & Second Boer War Veteran Pith Helmet RARE

Anglo Zulu War 1877 Colonial Pattern/Officers Lancers Cavalry Zulu War Khaki Pith Helmet, used byLieutenantNamed F.F.F McDonald of the Scouts in the Zulu Wars, the First Boer War and in the Second Boer War.

SUPER SUPER SUPER RARE!!!!

sale is for the Khaki Pith Helmet!

These are situated in South Africa where they\'ve always been since the time of the Zulu Wars and they come out of a big Anglo Zulu War museum. These are genuine Zulu War British Binoculars used by a British Lieutenant F.F.F McDonald in 1879 in the Zulu Wars in South Africa! After his fight in South Africa, he went back to Great Britain and returned to fight in the First Boer War and on to the Second Boer War, here is also his Pith Helmet, a 1877 Pattern Cavalry Zulu War Pith Helmet.

I managed to get the Binoculars and the Pith Helmet, along with a few other effects like his bandoleer, his water bottle, his sword and his khaki tunic! The only item I could not get was the Martini Henry Rifle and the Revolver Pistol. All the rest of the stuff you see in the photographs are items I am still keeping and thinking of selling at a later time. The buyer of the Pith Helmet will have option on his RARE Khaki Tunic and all the rest of the stuff.

He was killed in action during the Second Boer War, in the third War, taken out by a Boer soldier!

The soldier who killed F.F.F. McDonalds while he was riding his horse in combat, he and his men took out the regiment of two dozen British soldiers and after the battle, he took the binoculars off him along with his Pith Helmet as souvenirs/trophies, he also took his ammunition pouches, ammunition and his Martini Henry Rifle that he had on him. The British Lieutenant was equipped with a revolver which the Boer soldier took as well and he honored the dead and buried all the men in the hillside, released the horses to run free and he then took on the Martini Henry Rifle as his primary fighting weapon he favored and then carved his own name into the rifle\'s wooden stock.

I got the Pith Helmet and these Binoculars from the veteran\'s family still living in the same house today, upgraded to a modern beautiful home but you can still see the original fireplace and stone walls inside the home.. above the fireplace you can see the working Martini Henry rifle mounted on the wall and they also still have the British Officers revolver Pistol they showed me. Allot of details and information I try my best to remember. They surprised me when they took out his khaki tunic, his word and equipment effects you see on the pictures.. these tunics are unobtainable today and I managed to get all of it!

These Binoculars are engraved with the British soldier\'s initials and surname and the dates he served which is unlike any other pair left in the World, a very special and very unique pair of binoculars now up for offer to sell for a very affordable good price starting at a low offer on one of my other listings on .The original case was specially modified by the British Officer to open and close much quicker and easier which adds to it\'s very specially unique character and history. So here is your chance to own a true piece of RARE History! Something I believe should belong in a real big public Museum in England!

This Early British Khaki Pith Helmet, the 1877 Pattern Helmet is very scarce. I had it checked out by the Boer War Association in the Western Cape and as is it\'s worth well over $3,000.00 USD to as much as $5,000. I am however letting it go for a good price or a trade for WWII Memorabilia. Please contact me!

This helmet is believed to had insignia on the one side of the helmet that is no longer on it and as you can see, the helmet is well used in War and I am offering it as it is. Most likley had the Lancers Cavalry skull badge on it as this soldier was originally based in Cape Town and in each War travelled to different destinations to go fight.

This is a nice original piece of history, the Pith Helmet and the Binoculars with it\'s Case comes from this family in the Western Cape, owned by a man who\'s grandfather fought against the British Soldier during the Anglo Boer War, he fought in the First Boer War and in the Second Boer War and he killed the British Officer himself in combat using his massive \'Voorlaaier Rifle\' the Boers used. He shot toward Lieutenant F.F.F. McDonald with intent to try capture him and hoping for a surrender, he shot towards him and hit the horse in the chest killing the horse instantly and the British soldier was flung up in the air and fell to death, breaking his neck on impact.

His grandson, the man I met.. he still had the rifle his great grandfather took off the British soldier, still in working condiiton with his own name still ingraved into the wood of the rifle and he had the Bincoulars and the Pith Helmet and he told me the story and showed me some photographs and he had a couple of other pieces his great grandfather had taken as souvenirs in the Wars.

After the end of the War, the Boer soldier moved back to the Western-Cape, South Africa and lived out the rest of his life with his family in piece.

Still to this day, no Royal Air of Great Britain has ever apologized for crimes committed in South Africa or for the innocent blood spilt over these lands or given back the stolen diamond that is today still embedded in the Crown of England.
