18th Century Antique Newhall Cup andSaucerImari Colors c. 1795

This is a very early fine Newhall cup and saucer in imari colors c. 1790s

The bottom is impressed mark is difficult to make out but looks like F&M or either C&M.

There are numbers on the 2538 and an impress mark on the saucer 186

The set is completely decorated in a masterfully enamel of polychrome imari colors of Cobalt & Rust with Green Accents

The painting is very fine with detail all over the cup including the handle, the inside rim and inside bottom of cup bowl

The decoration is geometric as well as stylized floral withCobalt Blue is under glaze

Other enamels are pinks, olive green, orange, rust, with 22kt gold gilt along rim of both pieces

The cup is oversized measuring 4-1/4\" dia x 2-5/8\" high; the saucer is 6-1/2\" dia

Condition: No chips or repairs on either piece, no crazing; the cup is heavy with no chips or crazing,

it does have a fine hairline inside (does not go thru);the saucer has a spider in center (does not go thru)

The gold gilt has little to no rubbing

This is one of the oldest pieces I have found and so beautiful
