For Sale: Dark Brown 1 Gallon Crock - Ovoid Shape - 8\" tall x 6.75\" wide. No lid.

Albany Slip Glazed, Wheel Thrown, & Unsigned - dating this piece between 1897 and 1900.

The wipe pattern on the bottom of this crock is common to Red Wing Stoneware products that are Albany Slip glazed. It did not have a stoneware lid. A tin lid was placed over the inner rim and hot wax poured around it to seal it; commonly referred to as a wax sealer.Wheel Thrown Hand Made - evidence of this is easily seen and felt on the inside (you can both see and feel the finger grooves).

This crock is in very good condition with no cracks and only two small and shallow chips on side near the bottom (the larger one is 1/2\" x 1/4\" and can be seen in the pictures).
