Here is an antique mechanical pencil marked SHREVE, CRUMP & LOW 14K made around the turn of the century circa 1900. This mechanical pencil expands for use and retracts for storage. With its 14K gold bale, it was probably worn as jewelry on a long chain. It is approximately 3 1/4\" long when closed and 5 1/2\" long when opened. It is in overall good, used condition, however there is no lead element supplied with this pencil. It is marked along the interior shaft SHREVE, CRUMP & LOW 14K, the GOLD is a ROSE GOLD color. The interior mechanism which opens and closes the pencil is not believed to be gold.
