Here for sale is a beautiful old 16th or 17th century german oak coffer on probably later stand which at some point in time has been converted to a front double door opening cupboard.

The coffer retains what I believe to be the original ironwork side handles hinges etc.The conversion work has resulted in the lid now fixed down.The timber is that delicious blackened aged oak colour and patina and the coffer itself is decorated with beautiful original panelling depicting what I think are coats of arms of the Holy Roman Empire.

The coffer sits on a lovely matching low stand but as I said I think it was a later addition.The measurements of the actual coffer without stand are 53 and a half inches in length x 25 inches deep x 24 inches high.When sat on the stand the whole piece stands at 35 and 3/4 inches tall.

This is a magnificent piece of historic furniture and would look stunning stood in a hallway lounge or dining room area even an upstairs landing.Overall the coffer is in very good condition.

Payment is by paypal only and must be paid within 48hrs of the end of the sale.There is no postage involved for obvious reasons so any buyer can either collect or arrange own courier.
