An antique mother of pearl and brass inlaid top or lid, tea box. Two compartments with lids. Inside is a hidden compartment, painted silver. The lock has a brass plate, engraved Tahan R De La Paix. One piece of MOP is missing from the top, as shown. Measures 9 inches length, 4.75 \" tall x 4.75 \" wide. Brass inlaid top rim and corners. Has a lock, but no key. Some cracks in the black wood, but intact. One of the wooden knobs is a bit loose on top lid, of one compartment. Tahan was a noted Parisian ebeniste to Emperor Napoleon III. Tahan was located at 30 Rue de la Paix from 1849.
