Antique 1866 Oak Framed 43" Print Abraham Lincoln Emancipation Proclamation:

Offering an original 1866 framed print of President Abraham Lincoln in The First Reading Of The Emancipation Proclamation Before The Cabinet. This was the reading of the proclamation on July 22, 1862.


The painting was by F.B. Carpenter and hangs in the United States Senate. This engraving is by Alexander Hay Ritchie from the original picture painted at the White House in 1864.

According to act if Congress the year 1866 by F. B. Carpenter in the clerks Office of the District Court of the United States for the Southern District of New York. Premium Engraving from The Independent.


This antique engraving has been in my family forever but safely stored in the basement as it is rather large and heavy. The wood frame and backing are in excellent condition with some light wear. The engraving proper is somewhat faded and has foxing and light marks here and there. There are tiny bits of paper peel here and there, one noticeably on President Lincoln's nose. The antique glass has a wavy look which casts shadows on the paper at different angles.


Please checks pictures carefully because this is a truly antique picture, 151 years old, with marks that prove it's age, and sold as such. The text below the picture is faint even in person, but still readable.

35.5" x 25.5" actual print

Glass is solid with no cracks.

Backed with original wood planking.

Total weight approximately 25-30 pounds.
