DESCRIPTION: We are pleased to offer this Antique Black Ashand Pine Wood Hooded Doll Baby Rocking Cradle withCottonFilledMattress and Pillow from New England circa 1800s for your consideration.The hooded top and sides of the Doll Baby Cradle consist of wider black ashvertical staves and woven horizontal black ash weavers.Thehooded top and sides have bentwood band rim with a single coil. The Doll BabyCradle’s bottom and carved rockers are handmade of pine wood. The rocking runnershave a turn down style on the ends that act as stoppers when rocking thebaby. The carved rocking runners are attached to the bottom board by nails andsupported by woodenstrips. One of the wood strips has gone missing butdoes not affect thecharacter,strengthor authenticityofthe Doll Baby Cradle,which is over 140 year.Thewooden carved rockersare not loose in any way, and are attached very strongly. The year “1876”was written on the bottom of the Antique Doll Cradle, possiblyby thebasket weaver (see photos).The bottom of the Doll Baby Cradle isfinished with one inch wide pine wood bands attached with age appropriatenails. The Darling Doll Cradle is an exact miniature of the wooden baby cradlesfound in so many of the early colonists homes.The Antique Hand Made BabyDoll Cradle would have been the joy of a small child and was treasured and keptwith care. The Antique Baby Doll Rocking Cradle has a warm and mellowpatina that is age appropriate.There are slight losses to the hoodof the antique cradle,which do not affect the characterof thisdarling antique(see photos).The Antique Doll Cradle wouldmake a darling display on a table top holding small treasuresas aseasonal display (such as stone fruit,Indian corn, antique Christmasornaments). The Antique Doll Baby Cradle is in excellentstrong andsturdy condition. The doll in the photosis for display only and is not included.
