Antique 1878 Patent of Nobility Knight/Knighthood Documents~Joseph Blanther :

Up for consideration is a 1878 Book containing documents for the knighthood of
Joseph Blanther. Blanther was born in Austria in 1859. When he was 19 he was made
a Lt. in the Austrian Army. In December of 1878 he was knighted and decorated by Emperor
Franz Josef for distinguished services in battle. Blanther moved to the states and found himself
in trouble with the law. He was accused of murder and in 1896 was found dead in his jail cell.

Two of the documents contain seals from the Consulat des Deutschen Reiches at Bangkok dated Oct of 1886. One contains a seal from the Oester Kais Orden Der Eisernen Krone dated Dec of 1886. There is another document that is in Italian dates Nov 1887 from the Cancelliere dell' Ordine. The last one looks to be military paperwork and has a stamp K.K. Platz Commando dated 1884.The papers and the coat of arms in the book are in nice condition with some spotting/staining to the bottom of some of the pages. The cover is in a velvet burgundy and does have wear to it. The cover binding is broken but the front and back come together (I did not include a pic of the back because I wanted to show the documents) There is staining and markings on the cover and the edges are worn. A small corner pieces is missing from the back cover. The gold cord is broken. The seal does not have a lid to it.
The pages are on parchment paper written in German in a fine gothic script, headings in burnished Gold, with a full-page colored coat of arms (shield with castle on rocky peak against sky-blue background, surmounted by a pair of elaborately flourished knight's helms, one embellished with upraised blue wings, the other a collared dog/lion?Please look at the pictures provided as they are a part of the description.
