For your consideration is this original antique albumen photograph taken by the Theodore Marceau studio. This came from an archive of photographs featuring California National Guard Surgeon George Morton Terrill. He was part of the 1st Infantry. This shows him and another man in uniform on horseback. Nice larger size photograph with closeup detail of the horses and uniforms.
Dr George Morton Terrill graduated in 1883 with his Doctor of Medicine degree. He came to the Pacific Coast in 1885, and joined the US Army. He was appointed acting assistant surgeon and was in active duty during the Apache Campaign of 1885-86. After his active duty, he spent time as brigade surgeon of the National Guard of California. He continued his medical practice in San Francisco for many years.The photo is in VG condition with some darker tones and a few spots of soiling or foxing. There is a slight fade around the edges, it likely was in a frame and displayed for a long time. Overall very sharp with extremely fine detail of the horses. It measures 10\" by 8.25\". A great early photograph, perfect for a collector of California history.
